We understand that when voters participate in real political discussions, trust and privacy are of the utmost importance. This Privacy Policy discusses the treatment of personal information that we gather when you use the PollVault website and services. The Privacy Policy does not apply to third parties over which PollVault has no control, nor individuals that are not managed or staffed by PollVault.

In other words...

We collect some information from you to make PollVault a useful site for you

  • We receive and store any information you enter on our website, or provide to us in any other way. If you choose not to provide us with certain information, you may not be able to take full advantage of many of our special features.
  • We also collect information from you with regard to registering and/or signing on using your Facebook account. This information is collected in compliance with the Facebook API and terms of service agreement.
  • Registration: In order for you to use PollVault, you must complete a registration form, including providing required/necessary select personal information. This information is used to provide the PollVault service to you.
  • User specific information: To allow you to express your own views and opinions beyond just the collected registration information, we allow you to provide other information, such as a personal statement, links, and commentary. You may also choose to add a profile photo of yourself for your account. If you have a Facebook account, we will attempt to use your Facebook profile picture by default. We are very concerned about your privacy and as described below under "Sharing Your Information", you are able to control how your information is displayed and used.
  • Automatic information:
    • We also collect information whenever you interact with the PollVault site. Pollvault and its authorized agents automatically collect and record certain "traffic data" on their server logs from your browser including your IP address, PollVault cookie information, and the page(s) you requested. This information helps PollVault diagnose any problems with the servers, follow customer trends, and operate and administer the website.
    • PollVault collects and may display aggregate information about trends in how PollVault customers vote on candidates and issues. This information is not associated with any specific PollVault customer, and is used primarily to provide trend data. This aggregate data may be provided to PollVault partners or media to report general voting trends.

In other words...

We ask for information when you register that enables PollVault to provide you with information about your voting districts, polling location, and an accurate list of candidates and issues for your area, as well as general trend information.

We provide you with the ability to manage who sees this information, such as comments you might make about a candidate, for example.

Since we know that real political dialogue can't happen without trust, we are very concerned with providing you a safe and secure environment in PollVault. We will never provide your email address to a third party without your explicit permission. We provide details about this in the "Sharing Your Information" section below. Please be aware that in all cases you will continue to receive all system-generated e-mails, such as helping you with forgotten passwords, and legal notices, such as any changes or updates to our policies.

In other words...

We may send you occasional emails, such as notifications and other things that might be useful to you.
